A Reflection on Discernment

Sr. Rosemary Stein, OP, is one of our Great Bend, Kansas Sisters who is choosing the next step in her path of community and service as the Great Bend Motherhouse closes.

The Spirit is calling me to surrender.  God is giving me a new identity.  The past has shaped me.  My story is just beginning.

Romans 8:18. The suffering of this present time is nothing compared with the glory to be revealed to me.  Some people are sent into my life to awaken me, not to destroy.

Isaiah 40:31 Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

The Spirit is calling me to surrender.  God is giving me a new identity.  The past has shaped me.  My story is just beginning.

I know my Dominican Community believes in me, offers me hope, love, and support.  They are speaking to me from Divine intervention.  I need to remain open, to believe, to trust that God is preparing the way for me as He always has during any changes I have made.

Fear limits expectation, but faith calls me to know God has a plan for me.   It stretches me, calls me to trust in the God who is guiding me. Calling me forward. God promised He would be with me wherever I go.

I want to live expecting the unknown but celebrate what will be my surprises.  Leaving the familiar can feel like loss, but God will strengthen me and will put those people in my life who will help me grow spiritually.  At this moment in my life, I’m saying yes to God and the people who are reaching out to me.
