More than Just a Golf Cart

Lately, you can hear words of gratitude from the Sisters at Sansbury Care Center in Kentucky.

It’s all because of a high-tech golf cart that is now at their disposal.

The new ride escorts them, along with their family members and staff, around the St. Catharine grounds, including the gardens and the beef farm. Those who are taking advantage of the excursions are certainly talking about it…

"Smooth ride!" - Sr. Maria Emmanuel Martinez

"Trees are flowering...Thank you for helping us get this!" - Sr. Mary Louise Edwards

The cart is thanks to donor contributions, along with a grant from the Kentucky Colonels, which helped with the purchase of the covered, accessible golf cart. The special vehicle helps the residents get out of the building for a little while, experience nature, see the sights of the grounds and farm, and just breathe some fresh air.

One particularly nice day, the Sisters even had the chance to visit with the animals at St. Catharine Farm.

"We saw the farm!" - Sr. Mary Christoffel

"Delightful"-Sr. Veronica Collahan

Sansbury Care Center Life Enrichment Coordinator Theresa Mattingly says the cart and all it brings has already prompted valuable cognitive awareness and reminiscing about the St. Catharine campus from Sisters who have wonderful memories to share about the history of the area.

Since the rides have shown great benefits in a short period of time, the word is that  more excursions such as a sunset “cruise," a scavenger hunt, and a picnic are in the near future.

Thank you to the donors and the Kentucky Colonels for funding a special golf cart that has resulted in a positive difference in the lives of the Sisters who have served many.

  1. Hi , Sansbury staff, …these rides look like great fun…I’m thrilled for the Sansbury Sisters…..and God bless these benefactors,
And while I’m writing to Sansbury staff I want to thank whomever (perhaps several persons) has developed the new Sansbury news Bulletin,.
It is really well done: interesting and attractive…
    Peace, Kay Mahady
